Wine Region News is at home at The Cottage at Pacific Home and Garden in San Luis Obispo. The space evokes the warmth of historic bungalows and houses and an era when craftsmanship made a house a home.

Inside – among the carefully selected items - is our beautiful custom designed kitchen home to our cooking segments…a practical work of art created by Tim Brigham and his son Jory.

It is their style of using reclaimed wood that has become highly sought after, and every piece is unique.

TIM:
“ Each board has a character of its own that we really look for. We look for the knots. We look for cracks. We try to accentuate that as character into the pieces themselves.”

In a world full of cookie cutter cabinets and uninspired spaces – there is no doubt that the craftsmanship of the Brighams has character. And beauty. Each project is different.

With some three decades of experience in designing and building homes, additions and remodels…Tim’s focus evolved into furniture, kitchen design and cabinetry. It’s a family thing…his brother builds furniture and so does son Jory…who also creates concrete countertops.

Tim: JORY IS REAL GOOD WITH THESE COUNTERTOPS.”

They hand forge their own hardware and hinge design and hand-shape their moldings and table legs. The final product is at once artistic and comforting.

TIM “Often times we will paint the piece five or six times and work with it to bring different colors and shades out and generally we go over it with a wax. That gives us the nice lustre we’re looking for.”
